Adhesion effect of roller bearing

The adhesive theory was proposed by British scholars Bowden F P and Tabar D. When the two metal surfaces are pressed together, due to the influence of roughness, the actual contact point is a series of micro-convex bodies, and the actual contact area is relatively small, so the stress value on the actual contact micro-convex body is very high. When the external load increases to the point that the microconvex material reaches the yield limit and plastic deformation occurs, "cold welding" (adhesion) will occur within the contact area. , and in the bearing clutch, there is relative movement between the inner and outer ring raceway and the roller. Only when the adhesion point is broken can there be relative movement between the three. This phenomenon, which produces energy loss and rolling resistance, is called adhesion effect. Adhesion effect is also an important cause of rolling friction torque.
